2014 Goals [part 3]

The last part of my goals are my crafty/business goals.  It feels a bit crazy having a whole section of goals in this area, but this area is what fires me up and what feels like something just for me.

I really love sewing for so many reasons.  It is challenging to me.  I can constantly learn new things and it's an area that I can see tangible growth in.  Designing my first camera case was a great experience and way out of my box.  I'm usually a "see something and recreate it" kind of crafter, so to come up with my own idea and see it to fruition has been awesome.

I'm really excited for what 2014 has for the future of Cozy Cameras.

Crafty Goals
  1. Blog 1x/week-I want some sort of record of my crafty endeavors.  Plus I love reading blogs to get other ideas and to get motivated.
  2. Grow Cozy Cameras-this is my least defined goal and it's killing me that I don't have more specifics, but I need some more time to think on how I want to accomplish this.
  3. Redesign camera cases with 3 different sizes/zippers-I've had lots of requests for different sizes of cases, and most times I'm able to create them, but it's always a big guess if a case will end up fitting.  So I would like to come up with a more universal shape in 3 sizes so that the cases would fit more cameras.
  4. Sew something once a week-I tend to have times where I sew a lot and then weeks where I don't sew at all. I'd like to become more consistent with my sewing time.
  5. Participate in MeMadeMay-I am not planning on only wearing homemade clothes, but I do have quite a few shirts and I'd like to grow my wardrobe and document it somehow.
  6. Sell at 3 craft shows-The Pine Creek craft show was a big success, so I'd like to do 3 more this next year.  I'm thinking one in the spring and then 2 at Christmas time.
  7. Learn all about taxes for small business-I need to get the finances of the business more organized and learn a lot more about paying sales tax and income tax.  Since I have to file sales tax by January 20th, I'll be quickly tackling this one.

2014 Goals [part 2]

For the second part of my goals, I focused on goals for the whole family and goals for Mike and I.  Nothing super crazy, just some intentional things I want to do.

Family Goals
    Boys
  1. Play a game once a week-We are a game playing family and Hudson loves to play games with us.  I'm thinking Friday night after dinner will be the best time for this one.
  2. Play outside everyday, weather permitting-I'm not one to love to spend a ton of time outside, but I know that it's so good for all of us to get some sunshine and fresh air, even if it's just for 15 minutes.
  3. Intentional learning activities with Hudson 2x/week-I want to spend some time with just Hudson discovering new things.  They don't have to be complicated, but I want to be intentional with planning ahead so that I am giving him my undivided attention and teaching him new things.  Plus, it really fills him up when we get to spend time just the two of us together.
  4. Camp twice-I have such great memories of camping as a family from when I was a kid.  We love to do it, even if it takes a lot of work.
  5. Wisconsin vacation-after spending a weekend with cousins, I want to continue to make it a priority for our kids to spend quality time with their cousins.  Watching them play together was the best Christmas present.  We are so blessed with a great family!
  6. Grow a garden-This is such a great learning experience for the boys to see where food comes from.  Plus I think it really connects us to the Creator.  And I like to grow things.  I'm thinking of adding potatoes this year.
  7. Family singing/worship nights once a month-This was the last goal I picked so I'm not quite sure if it will happen.  We had some singing nights before Christmas and both boys loved it, especially Miles.  I have to remind myself that it doesn't have to be a big production.  Even 10 minutes of worshiping together is valuable.
    Mike & I
  1. Pay off half of Cathy’s loan-There's only $2000 left, but with not a lot of extra money coming in these days, I want to be good stewards and pay off what we can.  My Cozy Camera money goes to this right now.
  2. Weekly date nights at home-This has definitely been the most difficult year for our marriage, and what we've realized is that we have to be super intentional about spending time together for us to feel connected.  For Christmas date night ideas were our presents to each other.
  3. Read Art of Neighboring and get to know our neighbors- We were really challenged by the author of this book at the multiply conference and want to have an impact in our neighborhood.
  4. Make photo albums for last 4 years-this is a heritage thing.  I want the boys to have pictures to look at and I know that the longer I wait, the harder it will be.
  5. Leave boys overnight-Our last overnight was so refreshing for us so I want to do it again this year.
  6. Private-sorry, you don't get to know this one.

2014 Goals [part 1]

I love the new year and all that goes with a fresh start and setting goals.  I've learned about myself that I need targets to aim for and accountability to get there.  So I'm going to blog about my goals for the year in 3 parts.

I've picked a word for the year: GROW.  It wasn't my first thought, but I kept coming back to it so it's stuck.  I want to see growth in all aspects of my life: relationship with God, Mike, the boys, growth in my business, etc.  My verse for the year is Colossians 1:10, which says "so that you may live a life worthy of God and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God"

I've been following along with Lara Casey's goal setting series and it has been so helpful for me to really think through my goals.  She also says that it's important to write down the "why" of each goal so I'm going to do that here.  It's helped me focus my goals and make sure they align with my vision for the year.

So here are my personal goals for the year and the why behind them:

Personal Goals
    Spiritual
  1. Attend bible study fellowship-being in the Word every day is my #1 priority and BSF keeps me accountable
  2. Memorize 1 verse a month-I need to use scripture to combat bad habits/attitudes and one way to do this is to have it memorized
  3. Create prayer cards & use them-I don’t pray at all and I know I’m missing out on a huge part of what God has for me.  Prayer cards will give me structure to do so.
    Health
  1. Grain & sugar free January 8-February 28-I feel better, lose weight, have more energy
  2. Develop some sort of yoga/stretching routine-I need to have some sort of exercise and it needs to become a habit
  3. Drink water and take a vitamin each day-I feel better and have more energy when I drink enough water, vitamin will keep me healthier
    Learning
  1. Read 2 books a month-reading fires me up and I love to learn knew things
  2. Take a sewing or photography class-I don’t pull out the camera enough because it overwhelms me so I want to grow in this area, I want to learn new sewing techniques
  3. Attend a conference-I want to learn!!!! and meet other people too!
  4. Take an influence network class each month-I am investing in myself as a woman, mom, small business owner by joining the influence network because I am worth it and it is a way for me to continue to grow
